Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Parent Hub?

The Parent Hub is South Africa's largest in-person community for moms. We bring moms together through weekly walks, brunches, expert talks, family events, and local support groups designed to help moms feel healthier, happier, and more connected.

How can I make mom friends in South Africa?

One of the easiest ways to make mom friends is by joining a local mom community where you can meet other women in the same stage of life. The Parent Hub hosts weekly mom walks and events across South Africa, helping moms build genuine friendships and support networks.

Are The Parent Hub walks suitable for new moms?

Yes. Many of our members join during pregnancy or in their baby's first year. Our walks are designed to be welcoming, relaxed, and baby-friendly, making them ideal for new moms looking for support and connection.

How fit do I need to be to join The Parent Hub walks?

Not fit at all.

While The Parent Hub is passionate about promoting healthier, happier motherhood, our walks are designed to be accessible for all moms, including those who are pregnant, newly postpartum, returning to exercise, or simply looking for a gentle way to move their bodies.

Our walks are not power walks, fitness classes, or hiking groups. They are relaxed, social walks where conversation and connection are just as important as movement.

What is the pace of the walks?

Our walks are intentionally kept at an easy, conversational pace.

The goal is not to keep up with the fastest walker. The goal is to connect with other moms, enjoy some fresh air, and gently move your body.

If your baby needs attention, you need to stop for a moment, or you simply want to take things slowly, that's completely normal.

Can I join if I'm pregnant?

Absolutely.

Many moms join during pregnancy to build friendships and support systems before their baby arrives. It's a wonderful way to meet other moms who are going through a similar season of life.

Is The Parent Hub only for moms with babies?

No.

We welcome moms in all stages of motherhood, from pregnancy through to school-aged children. Many moms continue attending because of the friendships and support they have built within the community.

What if I don't know anyone?

That's completely normal.

Most moms attend their first walk without knowing anyone. Our leaders are there to welcome you, introduce you to other moms, and help you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive.

Many of the friendships formed at The Parent Hub started with someone nervously attending their first walk alone.

What if my baby cries during the walk?

Then you'll fit right in.

We understand that babies cry, need feeds, need nappy changes, and don't always stick to a schedule. Our community is made up of moms who understand exactly what that season of life is like.

There is no judgement here.

Why is The Parent Hub a paid membership?

While our walks may look simple from the outside, there is a lot happening behind the scenes to create a safe, welcoming, and well-run community for moms.

Your membership helps cover:

• Community administration and support

• Website and booking systems

• WhatsApp group management

• Leader training and resources

• Member communications

• Event planning and organisation

• Ongoing growth and support of local communities across South Africa

There is another important reason too.

We have found that when communities are completely free, people are far less likely to attend consistently or engage meaningfully. A small financial commitment creates accountability and encourages moms to prioritise their own health, happiness, and connection.

It also helps us maintain safe, trusted communities rather than open groups where anyone can join without accountability.

Our goal has never been to create the biggest community. Our goal is to create communities where moms genuinely connect, build friendships, and feel supported.

How do I meet other moms near me?

The Parent Hub hosts local mom communities across South Africa. Members can attend weekly walks, coffee meetups, brunches, and special events where they can connect with moms living nearby.

Where can I find support for postpartum loneliness?

Postpartum loneliness is incredibly common, and many moms experience feelings of isolation after having a baby.

The Parent Hub provides regular opportunities to connect with other moms through walks, WhatsApp groups, events, and meetups so that no mom has to navigate motherhood alone.

What are the benefits of joining a mom support group?

Mom support groups can help reduce feelings of loneliness, improve emotional wellbeing, provide practical parenting advice, increase confidence, and create lasting friendships.

Many Parent Hub members say the friendships they made through the community became one of the most valuable parts of motherhood.

What activities does The Parent Hub offer?

The Parent Hub offers:

• Weekly mom and baby walks

• Community WhatsApp groups

• Mom brunches

• Family events

• Expert talks and workshops

• Seasonal social events

• Wellness-focused activities

All designed to help moms build friendships and support networks.

How often do the walks take place?

Most Parent Hub communities meet weekly, creating regular opportunities for moms to connect, build friendships, and prioritise their health and happiness.

Are babies and toddlers welcome?

The majority of moms attend with their babies and young children. The walks are designed to be family-friendly and welcoming to little ones.

What can I do with my baby during maternity leave?
